How-To Steps
Note: All this information and more can be found in our official documentation here, but this is a condensed version for convenience.
By default, Resource Monitor notifications are not enabled for a user with the ACCOUNTADMIN role. To enable notifications by email, please follow the steps below:
- Login to the Snowflake interface and ensure you are using the ACCOUNTADMIN role. To do this, in the drop-down menu next to your name in the upper-right corner, select Switch Role » ACCOUNTADMIN.
- Ensure the Resource Monitor is created and contains notification options at desired credit thresholds.
- Keep in mind that the Resource Monitor will start its monitoring at the date and time you select, and reset at the frequency you specify (e.g., monthly starting at January 15th will reset on February 15th).
- You may also need to specify if this Resource Monitor is assigned to individual warehouses or the account.
- In the drop-down menu in the upper-right corner, select Preferences » General tab and under User Information » Add Email Address.
- After entering the desired email address, this will generate an email from Snowflake with subject "Please validate your email". Click on the link/button in the email to do so.
- Back in the Snowflake interface, your email should now be set in the General tab. Go to Notification Preferences tab.
- Select All (which includes web notifications) or Email to receive email notifications.
At this time, any ACCOUNTADMIN that has verified their email and setup their user Notification Preferences to All or Email will also receive a Resource Monitor's notifications via email.
