As you probably are also, The New Stack is waist-deep in conference season – and about to be up to its neck in KubeCon + CloudNativeCon activities next month in Atlanta. So we’ll keep this week’s update short, to give us more time to pack.

These last few days found Frederic Lardinois, our senior editor for AI, reporting from the PyTorch conference, and our colleague Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols brought back news from the OpenInfra Summit Europe.

And for those events we haven’t attended in person, we’ve gathered the news remotely. Senior Editor Richard MacManus reported on ViteConf, with details on how Vite+, a new unified JavaScript toolchain, will help dev teams solve JavaScript fragmentation.

Loraine Lawson, our frontend reporter, also shared this week insights from Seth Webster, the first executive director of the newly created React Foundation, about how he intends to invest in React communities around the world, to help the ecosystem thrive.

But React fans seem to have a more basic demand of the new org, Webster said, one that will resonate with swag-loving tech conference attendees the world over: “It’s really funny that one of the top requests I’ve gotten since people found out about the React Foundation is, when is the merch store launching?
